Remembering the Haiti earthquake 9 years later.
We've come a long way, but there is still a long road ahead. I want to share our experience working on the Text HAITI relief campaigns, and share what we have learned then and now.
It was a Tuesday afternoon, a little after 5:30pm on January 12, 2010 in Denver. I was heading out of the office when I saw our Operations Manager.
“Hey! What are you still doing here?” I asked.
“I just got a call from Jimmy. I guess there was an earthquake in Haiti. I’m going to spin up a keyword real quick then I’m out of here” he replied.

It's impossible to predict a natural disaster, and almost as hard to truly prepare for one. What really matters in a natural disaster isn't how prepared a city is before it hits, but the generosity of our nation in the aftermath.

Hurricane Harvey is a truly unprecedented weather event. It came with force, delivering sustained 100 mph winds, spitting off tornados, and dumping record-breaking torrents on Houston, our nation's fourth largest city.
Citizens have been doing the best they can to survive and adjust in the wake of the storm; however, many are still cut off from basic supplies - food, water, and electricity - and many more have found themselves suddenly and unexpectedly homeless, displaced, often with animals and children in tow.
We are so proud and so honored to be able to provide fundraising support to several organizations who are working hard, day in and day out, to provide relief to those affected by this storm.
From providing short term supplies, shelter, and search and rescue, to more long term efforts centered around re-homing and reacclimating to a life post-tragedy, our nonprofit partners are doing incredible and selfless work as we speak. Read on for more details on our partners helping in the Gulf.

Editor’s Note: This was originally published on April 25th, 2015 and has been updated to include the massive aftershock on Monday, May 12th.
A powerful aftershock hit the already crippled country of Nepal on May 12th killing dozens and injuring thousands just 80km east of Kathmandu, in Dolakha district. Some aid organizations are referring to this dystrophic situation as a double disaster after the initial earthquake killed more than 8,000 people and injured thousands more on April 25th. Nonprofit originations around the world continue to deploy volunteers and provide much needed relief funding. Executive director of The mGive Foundation, Jenifer Snyder said “We need to let donors know how they can continue to help the people in Nepal.”
